VCON 42 Volunteer Update – Training Session Sept. 8

The Final Countdown….
We are less than a month away from the big event; therefore, an informative volunteer training session for VCON 42 volunteers will be held this Saturday, September 8.
Time: 11am – 2pm
Location: 5171 Empire Dr., Burnaby
Facilitated by: Chris Sturges and Tiffany Riddell
If you are able to come to training, please RSVP to this years’ volunteer liaison, Tiffany as soon as possible.  volunteers [at] vcon [dot] ca

For those not able to attend training, there will be more information sessions to come, so stay tuned.

VCON is a fan-oriented and 100% fan-run convention and our volunteers are the most important resource we have. As such, they are the gears that make VCON happen – without them, there wouldn’t be an event.

Because volunteers are so essential, we offer HUGE membership discounts to everyone who does a certain amount of volunteer work leading up to and during the event such as a weekend general membership ($75 value) for just $10!

Also, starting this year, we are giving out PERSONAL DISCOUNT CODES that will allow each volunteer to offer friends and family a $5 discount on ALL weekend memberships.

If you’d like to help us make this year’s event the most amazing science fiction, fantasy and gaming event you’ve ever been to, please fill in the VCON 42 Volunteer Sign Up Form.

Again, if you have any questions, please reach out to this year’s Volunteer Liaison, Tiffany Riddell, at volunteers [at] vcon [dot] ca

Who Volunteers?

  • Our international celebrities that we bring in are volunteering their time to attend the event.
  • The Local celebrities that attend are all volunteering their time at the event.
  • The organizing committee (ConCom) chair, vice chair, department heads and assistants are all volunteering time throughout the year and at the event.
  • And last, but by no means least, everyone who gives up a few hours of time at the event to help with important day-of tasks such as registration, security, running a workshop or whatever – they are all volunteers.

What Do Volunteers Do?

Volunteers do Everything!

Individual volunteers can find themselves helping in any of a number of ways depending on their skills, interest level and availability. Some examples of work volunteers do:

  • Planning
  • Recruiting
  • Advertising
  • Preparing
  • Event set up
  • Event take down
  • Onsite badge monitoring
  • Registration
  • Onsite security
  •  AV/Tech management
  • And everything around and in between that!

Are YOU Ready?

If you are ready to be immersed in the wonderful world of volunteering, science fiction, fantasy and games please take a moment to fill out the VCON 42 Volunteer Sign Up Form.

We look forward to hearing from you and working together to host the best VCON event ever!
