To soothe any fears that we might have to deal with an attitude like at last year's hotel,
please know that Marriott hotels are franchises. We are dealing with very different people.
Costumes are welcome anywhere in the hotel, including the restaurant.
Room Rates
The room rate for VCON Members, which are also valid for three days before and after the convention, are as follows:
- One Bedroom Suite
with 1 King or 1 King/Queen + Sofabed -
- $107 CDN/night for single or double occupancy
- $117 CDN for triple
- $127 CDN for quad
- Executive Corner Suite (limited number available!)
with 1 King + Sofabed and a balcony.
These suites are about 30% larger than standard rooms, so they make an excellent choice for party rooms -
- $143 CDN/night
To book your room by phone, call 1-877-323-8888 before September 15, 2010, ask for the Vancouver Airport Marriott† and clearly identify yourself as being with VCON to get our room rate. Online booking is also available through the Vancouver Airport Marriott's web site — to obtain VCON rates, enter the group code WSFWSFA.
†Do not refer to the hotel as "The Marriott in Richmond" or even mention the city of Richmond. The Marriott Richmond is a hotel in Virginia and you really don't want to find yourself with a reservation clear on the other side of the continent...

Amenities
Parking & Transit: Parking is avaialble at the Marriott for $6/day for all VCON Members, whether or not you're staying at the hotel. Convention members should park on levels 2, 3, 4 or 5 in the parking garage, NOT on the main level or mezzanine, or in the outside lot (where you may be towed). After parking, go to the front desk of the Marriott and identify yourself as being with VCON to be charged the special rate of $6 per day. Convention members staying in the hotel will have the parking charge billed to their rooms; those not staying in the hotel will pay cash each day. The Lansdowne Skytrain station on the new Canada Line Skytrain is an easy-to-walk three blocks away, and the Marriott provides a shuttle to and from YVR Airport. Food & Shopping: Food choices are abundant in the area. There are two malls within easy walking distance, a liquor store, a pharmacy, and Imperial Hobbies gaming shop is just around the corner. More detailed information and restaurant reviews can also be found on the Getting Around page.
Internet: Free Wireless internet is available at various hotspots in the hotel, including the lobby, restaurant and lounge. Guest room internet access is available to VCON Guests for $6/day.
Smoking: The Marriott is a smoke-free environment. There are designated areas outside for smokers, but there are no smoking rooms in the hotel. If you require a guest room in which you are allowed to smoke, please contact us using the "VCON General Questions, Comments and Suggestions" category on our contact form to discuss possible solutions.
Room Parties
If you have plans to throw a party in your room, please request a room on the party floor when you make your reservation, and also check out the Party Room info on the Fans page
If you don't want to take the chance of sleeping next to that guy's party, please let the hotel know you'd like a room on a quiet floor.
